SPRING!!

Letter from the President, Dean Fischer...

Welcome to 2008 and a new golf season. There are a few items, I would like to share with you. If you would like more information on anything listed below, Please contact Joe at the Club. Welcome Back!!!

Groundskeeper - Ryan Nass has been hired by the Board to be the Greenskeeper for 2008. Ryan has golf course experience while working for Prairie Woods and Windsor golf courses. Ryan is attending Blackhawk Technical School earning a degree in Landscaping and Turf Services. Ryan is a Whitewater HS graduate who played on the golf team. Please introduce yourself and welcome Ryan. Congratulations Ryan!

Annual Meeting - The annual meeting for the club will be Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 pm. If any member has an item for the agenda please see Joe or myself ASAP.

Candidates for WWCC Board of Directors - I have appointed the other 2007-2008 Board Members as the nominating committee for candidates for the Board of Directors. The terms for Board Members Crystal Singer and Jim Miller terms will expire at the annual meeting. If you have names you would like to nominate or you have an interest in running for the Board, please see a Board member or Joe. We need members to step up and take part in the Club’s business.

Poker Machines - You will notice that the clubhouse now has two video poker machines. There has been some interest for the machines for well over a year. The Board has rejected the machines in the past but now has voted to try the machines on a trial basis.

Koenitzer Donation - Please thank Doc and Dottie for their donation of cutlery to the club. They have donated forty gorgeous steak knives that will be used in the dining room. The gift is in honor of their 50th Anniversary of being WWCC Members!! Thank you Doc and Dottie, you continue to be very supporting and giving members of the club.

Member Clean Up Days - One or two membership cleanup days will be scheduled in the next months to help the Club and Ryan get the course ready for play. The 1st has been planned for Saturday morning, April 5th from 8AM to Noon with the Club providing lunch and snacks afterward. No "reservation" is needed but if you think you are available and willing, please let Joe know so food amounts can be planned. Please pitch in - THANKS!

Men's Locker Room - An effort is being made to renovate the men’s locker room. At the present, there are plans to put a full door on the men’s room and to move a door to the end of the hall leading into the locker room. At the very least the carpeting will be replaced. Other ideas are floating around for work within the locker room. Once those have been formalized, we will bring information to you. If you care to a part of the effort to renovate the locker room, whether it is a donation (funds, supplies, etc) or volunteer labor, please let Joe know.

High Definition TV Donation - A "Fan of the Club" has donated a 52" flat screen HD TV to the Club. It is expected that the TV will be mounted within the next month. The TV will definitely enhance the bar room for members to enjoy particularly golfing and other sports events. Thank you "Fan".

Class "B" Stock - The Class B Certificates come due in July. The Board is going to discuss the Class B Certificate program at the next Board meeting, which is March 27 at 5:15PM. The Board will be contemplating if or what a recommendation would be to the holders of the Class B Certificates. Three options are (there may be other options): 1) No recommendation 2) Continue the Class B Certificates for a period to be determined 3) Discontinue the Class B Certificates. No hard decision will be made as the Board wants the input of the holders of the Class B Certificates. A meeting will be schedule with Class B Certificate holders before July to discuss. Even if you are not Class B holders, we would like your input at the March 27 meeting.

2008 Membership - Please remember the incentive for recruiting a new owner-member is a (one year) 25% discount in your dues as well as the new member. That discount could range from $200-400 depending on the type of membership. Please spread the word and help increase our WWCC Family!

Volunteers/Sponsors - The Club’s success relies considerably on our members’ generosity of time or donations. If you would like to contribute in some way, please see Joe or a Board member. If you want to contribute and do not have any specific idea as to what you may want to do, please speak to Joe or a Board member about thing that have been discussed at Board Meetings that there is currently not the time or funds to complete.

Firemen Fund Raiser - The Board has voted to sponsor a golf outing to raise funds for the Whitewater Fire Dept. The Board’s thought that it would be good for the Club to sponsor a fund raiser for such a great organization that provides such excellent public service. More details will be coming...

Sunday Breakfast at the Club - Are you missing out? Sunday breakfast has been gaining in popularity. Nice quiet atmosphere with great food. Hours are 8:30 to 11:30 AM. Bring your friends to experience the Whitewater Country Club.

MANAGER'S NOTES:

I would also like to extend an official "Welcome Back" to all of our Members now that the weather is starting to cooperate and we are closing in on the start of another season. It is hard to believe that I am within weeks of being on board a year already! - You have all done such a great job helping me through and it is greatly appreciated. I hope that with your assistance we can continue to make improvements to the Club. As you can see above, Dean has written most of the Newsletter (mostly informational this edition but I will continue with the pictures, notes, events and thank you's as in the past for future editions) but I do have a couple things to add below...

Membership Applications for 2008 - Membership renewal forms were sent to all Owner-Members in December and Specialty Members in January. We have had a great response but there are still plenty out there that we haven't heard back from. Please get those in ASAP. If you need another copy (or one for a friend) you can call/email the Club or click on the following link and print a copy out: 2008 Membership Application, Rules & Restrictions (PDF file).

Golf Cart Service - As in previous years, the Club will contact Brown's to come out and do annual service on golf carts stored at WWCC. I have placed a sign-up sheet in the Clubhouse - please add your name if you would like to be included. If you are unable to stop in, you can call or email me and we will add you to the list. PLEASE CONTACT ME BY FRIDAY, MARCH 21 if you want your cart included. Brown's will be coming the Week of March 24th to pick-up and service the carts (takes a couple days). It is billed to you directly from Brown's. If you have any questions about what is/can be done or costs involved that I cannot answer, you can call Bob at Brown's directly at 262.728.6036.

Statements - Monthly Account Statements will be created the beginning of each month. Like everyone else, we are striving to follow the "Paper Reduction Act" so they will be emailed to you. If you have a new email (or one I don't have a copy of), please write it down or email it to me so I know what address to email your statement to. If you do NOT have an email, statements can be printed for you by request when you stop in at the Club. If you have a special circumstance that you cannot receive email and also cannot stop at the Club, let me know and I can mail individually. Statements balances are due at the end of the month they are received in. Thanks for your prompt payment!

Hours - Weather will remain the determining factor on the hours of operation for the Club. As of right now, we will continue our "Winter" Hours (below) until we can open up the course. You will be notified via email when those hours change... That Darn Groundhog must have seen a HUGE shadow in February!!!

Mondays-Thursdays: Cocktail Hour from 4PM to Close (last person here)
Fridays: Now Open EVERY Friday for Dining. Cocktail Hour starts at 4PM and Dining Service is from 5 to 9PM
Saturdays: Closed
Sundays: Open from 8 to 11:30AM for Breakfast Service

Personally - I would just like to send a quick Thank You to everyone for their congratulation wishes to my family and me for both the birth of our son Matthew Gary Carollo and for the success of my wife's basketball team.
* During this winter I moved from a men's basketball coach at UW-W to the women's team to help coach with my wife. The team is currently 26-3 and hosts the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 Rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend at the Williams Center. It is a school record for wins and the 1st Conference Championship in 22 years. Love to see you there this weekend (Fri at 8PM) if you're free!
* Matt was born on January 15, 2008 at 3:15PM. He weighed 8lbs. 13oz. and was 20.5" long. He is a very happy and healthy baby and is growing by the second. His older sister Kacie adores him (so far). He has only been out of the house a couple times including 2 games and 2 trips to the Club for Breakfast.... he was hoping to meet more of you there - maybe next time ;)

Get Well Soon & We'll Miss You

A special Get Well wish to Jim Pieper who is coming back strong from some health problems he experienced recently. He has been seen again back at the Club and we're all hoping he can get back to playing golf when the season rolls around - Get Well Jim! On a sad note, Whitewater Country Club lost a dear member as Richard Swanson passed away recently. Richard had joined the Club in 2005 and already had his dues in ready to go for 2008. Our deepest condolences to his family - he will be missed!
